Cosori Air Fryer Cooking Guide: Settings, Times & Tips

Written by Kate Farrell|Last updated: March 2026

Cosori is one of the most popular air fryer brands, especially at the mid-range price point. Their machines are well-designed and reliable, and they've built a larger app and community ecosystem than most competitors.

The cooking times below are calibrated for Cosori machines. If you're coming from oven recipes, or from a different air fryer brand, the conversion calculator on this site will give you a reliable starting point.

Cosori Models: Quick Overview

Cosori Pro LE 5Qt4.7LSimpler controls; good entry model

The Pro II 5.8Qt is the one most people have — it's been the best-seller in the range for several years. Times in this guide are calibrated for that model. If you have the Dual Blaze, it runs hot from below as well as above — reduce temperature by 10°F and check slightly earlier than listed.

Using Cosori's Preset Modes

The Pro II has 12 preset cooking functions: Steak, Chips/Fries, Chicken, Shrimp, Fish, Vegetables, Bacon, Bread, Prawns, Cake, Frozen, and Reheat. Each preset sets a default temperature and time that you can then adjust.

Are the presets accurate? Broadly, yes — they're good starting points. But presets are designed for a typical portion at a standard size, and they can't account for your specific food. I treat them as a baseline and adjust:

  • The Chips preset (around 400°F / 15–17 min) works well for standard frozen chips.
  • The Chicken preset is conservative — I usually increase temperature slightly for crispy skin on thighs.
  • The Reheat preset (around 300°F / 10 min) is a good general setting but reduce it for shorter reheat tasks.

The presets also don't know whether you've preheated. Times are calibrated for a cold start on some presets — if you've preheated, reduce by 2–3 minutes and check.

Cosori Shake Reminder

The Cosori Pro II has a halfway-point "shake" reminder that beeps and pauses the cook so you can open and shake the basket. This is useful for chips, vegetables, and anything you want to redistribute. It doesn't flip food automatically — you still do that — but the reminder is a nice feature, especially while you're learning.

Cosori App (Smart Models)

The Smart Wi-Fi models connect to the VeSync app, which has hundreds of preset recipes with auto-set temperature and time. The app also enables voice control via Alexa or Google Home and lets you monitor the cook remotely.

In practice: useful if you often forget to check on food and appreciate a notification when the cook ends. The recipe library is large and adds value for new air fryer users. Not necessary for experienced cooks.

Cosori-Specific Tips

  • Preheat prompt on newer models. Some Cosori models prompt you to preheat before cooking — it will run for 5 minutes and tell you when to add food. If your model has this, use it.
  • The Dual Blaze runs hotter from below. The dual-element design in the Dual Blaze means the underside of food cooks faster than on a standard top-element model. Check earlier than the times listed here and consider reducing by 10°F.
  • Cleaning the Cosori basket. The basket liner is dishwasher-safe on most models. The outer basket should be washed by hand. Avoid harsh scrubbers — the non-stick coating scratches. A soft sponge and hot soapy water is enough.
  • Replacement baskets. Cosori sells replacement baskets and liners directly. If your coating is degrading, replace rather than cook on a damaged surface.
  • The Cosori light. Some users report the internal light is useful for checking food without opening the basket and losing heat. If your model has one, use it.

Common Questions

Cosori vs Ninja: which is better?

Both are good machines. Cosori has an edge on preset variety and the app ecosystem; Ninja leads on the Dual Zone functionality for multi-component cooking. At comparable prices, it really comes down to which features matter to you. I can only speak from daily use on Ninja — for Cosori this guide is based on documented testing and cross-referencing.

My Cosori is overcooking at stated temperatures. What's wrong?

Air fryers vary between units. If yours consistently cooks faster than expected, reduce temperature by 10–15°F. Also check: are you preheating before the stated cook times begin? If the recipe assumes no preheat and you're preheating, food will cook faster.

Does the Cosori have a preheat function?

Newer models prompt you to preheat. Older models don't — set your temperature and run empty for 3–4 minutes.
